It's been too long!
I will get back into the habit of updating this site. I keep saying that, don't I? Well, I haven't knitted in a while. I think the next thing I am going to knit will be this water bottle holder . I need a way to carry my water bottle with me hands-free. Especially since I got a job! I'm a youth supervisor at a residential treatment home for teenage girls. I mostly work on weekends, but I work for 29 hours in each weekend. I like the job - it should be good experience. But I'm not supposed to knit there (or even read) because I'm supposed to interact with the girls. The hardest part is when all the girls have things they are supposed to be doing, and I'm just supposed to watch them. One afternoon, one of the girls told me that I looked bored. I had been working on memorizing their names, but had that down by about the second day. Then I started reading everything on the walls, and was done with that. She invited me to get a book from the classroom bookshelf, and I did. I think it's better than looking bored. I've also taken my lucet and done a bit of lucet cord.
The other thing that I have been working on is getting the kids going with school. Ashley is the only one who wanted to homeschool this year, and she is trying out a curriculum provided by the school district, K12 . They finally got her materials sent and got her on the system this week. So far she seems to like most of it.
We also found a great homeschool group here. There's a class for me to go to on Wednesdays, plus activities for the kids, like recess at the park for 3 hours on Fridays, where Ashley has discovered kick ball. She had never played before, but the second week, she was pitching!
Ok, well, I have to work tomorrow (Thursday) through Sunday, but not full days on Thursday and Friday. We still don't have the sheep, goats, and llamas here, but they are arriving on Saturday. Sometime before then we have to get a fence put up! Mark will probably have to do it. So I'm heading back into all the stuff I have to do for a few more days and then hopefully I'll be back again.
Oh, the hollyhocks finally bloomed! I hope they last a while but it's starting to frost at night. I'd like to have some of the black ones (good dye) that I had in Vernal, but these are nice too. They are coming up all over the yard if anyone would like a start.
