Blogging

I've observed over and over that, often when it comes to the fiber arts, but it really applies just about anywhere, you either have time or you have money. You will never have both of them at the same time, so you just have to make do with what you can scrape up.

Now I'm noticing a similar trend with regards to blogging. Either I have material, or I have time, but never both. It makes sense, doesn't it? If I'm busy, I might have something to blog about, but when will I get a round tuit? And likewise, at other times I've had all the time in the world (well, not quite I guess), but who wants to hear about sitting around contemplating my belly button lint? Hmm, since it theoretically could be spun, maybe you would, but probably not all that often, especially if I'm not actually making something out of it.

Now that I have two jobs, I have plenty to say. Conversations with my boss when we go on soda runs often lead to material with lots of potential. She's about my age, with four kids and a husband, and we have some interests in common. We've talked about managing a family, getting the kids to let you give away or throw away toys and clothes that they grow out of, wishing that the hub unit would clean out his car, etc. The problem is, by the time we get back to the office I've forgotten what I was thinking about writing. Oh, there is one thing about going on soda runs. I rarely drink soda. We go around and take orders for the rest of the office, and there is another girl who doesn't drink soda either. I think for me anyway, the point has to do more with going on a soda run.

Even though I have two days off most weeks, and a couple of days that I only work 5 hours, I've had too many things needing my attention, and I've felt guilty about not blogging, but still haven't sat down and done it. Even right now I should be on the phone looking for someone to come fix the clothes dryer. I'm not even worrying at the moment about the dishwasher or the kitchen sink, since we can live without those, or the many knobs that are rusting through and coming off of sinks, tubs, and showers around the house, necessitating the use of pliers to turn the water on and off. When we get enough money, we're going to have to redo all the plumbing. We had a pipe break underneath the house a few weeks ago, and the plumber said that all the pipes are in about the same condition - it was done with cheap materials, and all of it is disintegrating now. And then there's the roof, which was new a couple of years ago, but was leaking around the skylight. We got that fixed. Somebody just didn't bother to actually tighten things down up there. Hey, it's Southern Utah, right? And we've been having a drought. But this year the drought changed to floods, especially south of us a ways, but it was really wet here too.

You know, I'm just pleased with myself that I have gotten one of my computer mice (mouses?) working again. I have three or four, and the optical mouse works best when it works, which is less and less often (something must be wrong with the cord, or maybe the USB ports); the other optical mouse - same brand, same software - won't work on this computer at all, but works fine on Mark's; a regular USB mouse that Angela sent me that just won't track left-right; and then the roller ball mouse Mark bought me several weeks ago when I got frustrated with my mouse situation. I think my computer is just allergic to mice. Anyway, the roller ball mouse worked for the first day (although it's different, and a challenge to get used to), and then just got hard to control. I figured it got dirty, and cleaned it out, with little improvement. Just now I guess I found the right places in there to clean, as it is working like new again. Yea!!!

I have a whole bunch of pictures to share with you, of lambs and FO's and the kids and the dogs and everything. Without the mouses working it was overwhelming to think about working on my pictures, so that's another of my excuses. My intention is to post a whole bunch of updates, possibly today, but if not then it may be next week. Stay tuned!

Meanwhile, I can provide a bit of entertainment. http://dsc.discovery.com/fansites/mythbusters/quiz/quiz.html
